Greetings from a dodgy looking bar in Hanoi City!
Amazingly, a lot of bars here have wifi and don't charge you tourist prices. I'm sitting here with a 450ml bottle of Bia Ha Noi (literally Hanoi Beer) and a plate of fried seafood noodles. That's about 50,000 dong equivalent to USD$3.50 or about RM10.
Food's great over here, with really really cheap street food like USD$1 for a bowl of Pho Bo... well basically all street food is about USD$1. Unless you plan to splurge at a street food place and when that happens... well let's say you make a lot of friends.
But anyways, if anybody decides to go to Vietnam, make sure you immediately have some spare Vietnamese Dong at hand beside the universal USD coz they WILL rip you off the moment you take out a ten dollar bill or even see the glimpse of your 50 dollar bill hidden in your wallet. Let me tell you the story of my arrival here.
I got off the bus with the rest of the winners of Apostrophe Gallery's Short Short Film competition and we were bombarded by people wanting to sells us knock-off zippos and other random merchandise. I got mobbed by a bunch of small Vietnamese old ladies carrying pineapples and got forced, and I mean FORCED into buying pineapples for USD$5 because I didn't have any VND. Jesus. I hate pineapples and now, I hate them even more, thinking about them make me feel real pain.
However, Vietnam is really a beautiful chaotic place and to be honest, it's not hard to fall in love with this country. The colours of their cuisine are just amazing. The people try their best to be friendly despite not being the language barrier. I am now an expert at sign language. Heh. This is the longest post I've had in a long time no?
I'm still dazed about my entire experience though, it's terribly surreal and who would've though that I'd win an award before I graduated? Looks like I've still got some indie spirit in me. After this trip, I'm supposed to start work as a Production Manager for a new TV series that is coming out in October and that's gonna be a bomb. Leaving my place of internship has been the best thing ever. Not only do I not have to waste time at Zesqa Media, I've got more freedom as a Freelancer.
Life is Good.
PS: When I get back, be prepared for some cheap duty free booze! |

Yeah, one of my uber-rare posts and I need help with something. :P
Anyways, I'm using Maxis Broadband, on a ZTE Modem, and I need help setting it up to my Xbox 360, I don't have a router and I was wondering if it's possible to hook it up directly rather than using a PC -> Xbox 360 setup. I'm using an iMac that's why...

Well, it's looking alright I suppose, but being the crazy director I am, I'm planning to reshoot this as I find that being a director/actor is tough work when you have a really small crew. Nevertheless, I'm still going to finish up whatever scenes we've done so far to see how the overall flow of the story. Those interested in doing still photography for me please drop a comment ya as my current still photographer. Lina is heading back to UITM on the 28th and shooting will resume on the 2nd of January.
Anyways, here's a simple teaser poster for you guys, trailer to follow suit in the following week.

| | Erik Satie - Gymnopedie | ] | Well, I've done all my PSAs and if there's one thing I'd like to bitch about is the fact that a 30 second ad is a real bitch to edit but a breeze to film. Well, I'm not going to go into the boring details but I'll just give a short sypnosis.
Abstinence Basically it's about a very horny couple that finally cave in. I'm bittersweet about this because if I could've dragged it on to 40 seconds or so, I'd say it would've been more impactful so meh...
Abstinence (PSA)
Please Not really my idea, it was a favour I did for a classmate but the filming and editing was all done by me, so I'd say I own 95% of this PSA. Took us less than an hour to film and only 30 minutes to edit so I'm very happy with this.
Please (PSA) |
